Description

The Blue Throat Fairy Wrasse, *Paracheilinus angulatus*, is a vibrant and active addition to the reef aquarium. This species is known for the striking blue coloration on the throat of the males, which intensifies during courtship displays. The body is typically a mix of red, orange, and yellow hues, often with iridescent blue lines or spots. Females and juveniles are generally less colorful.

A minimum tank size of 75 gallons is recommended for the Blue Throat Fairy Wrasse. They are active swimmers and appreciate plenty of open space, as well as ample rockwork with hiding places. A sand bed is also beneficial as they may bury themselves at night or when startled. This species is considered intermediate in terms of care difficulty.

In the aquarium, the Blue Throat Fairy Wrasse will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering multiple small feedings throughout the day is recommended to support their active metabolism. They are generally peaceful towards other fish but can be territorial with conspecifics, especially males. Introducing multiple females before a male can help establish a harmonious group. They are reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates. This species originates from the Indo-Pacific region.
