Description

The Divided Leopard Wrasse, *Macropharyngodon bipartitus*, is a vibrant and active addition to a marine aquarium. This species is known for its striking pattern of spots and markings that vary between individuals and sexes, adding a dynamic visual element to the tank.

A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is recommended for the Divided Leopard Wrasse to provide ample swimming space and accommodate its natural foraging behavior. They are native to the Indo-Pacific region and are considered to have an intermediate level of care. A sand bed is essential as they bury themselves at night or when startled. They are generally peaceful but can be territorial with other wrasses, especially those of similar size or appearance.

In the aquarium, the Divided Leopard Wrasse will actively hunt for small invertebrates in the sand and live rock. Their diet should be supplemented with a variety of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and other high-quality frozen foods. Providing a diverse diet will help maintain their health and vibrant coloration. They typically reach a moderate size in captivity.
