The Eibli Angelfish, also known as the Blacktail Angelfish, is a beautiful and hardy dwarf angelfish. Its body is primarily a vibrant orange-yellow, with striking horizontal blue lines running along its sides. The tail fin is a contrasting black, giving it its common name.
A minimum of a 55-gallon tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding places is recommended for the Eibli Angelfish. While generally considered more reef-safe than many other angelfish species, there is still a possibility they may nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, especially if not well-fed.
Like other dwarf angelfish, the Eibli Angelfish is hermaphroditic and very difficult to breed in an aquarium. There are no easily distinguishable differences in color between males and females. The Eibli Angelfish requires a varied diet including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, and mysis or frozen shrimp. They can grow up to approximately 4 inches in length in an aquarium.
