Description

The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse, *Cirrhilabrus exquisitus*, is a stunning and highly desirable species known for its vibrant colors and active nature. Its coloration varies depending on location and mood, but typically features a base color of orange, red, or purple, often with iridescent blue or green markings along the body and fins. Males in breeding dress display particularly intense colors and elaborate fin extensions.

A minimum tank size of 75 gallons is recommended for the Exquisite Fairy Wrasse, providing ample swimming space and room for rockwork and hiding places. They are generally peaceful but can be territorial with other wrasses, especially those of similar size or coloration. They are best kept singly or in a group with only one male. They are reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.

In the aquarium, the Exquisite Fairy Wrasse will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering multiple small feedings throughout the day is beneficial due to their high metabolism. They typically reach a maximum size of around 4 inches in captivity. This species is considered to have an intermediate care level, requiring stable water parameters and a secure lid as they are known jumpers.
