Centropyge aurantonotus
The Flameback Angelfish, also known as the Orangeback Angelfish, is a stunning dwarf angelfish featuring a vibrant blue body with a striking flame-orange to yellow blaze running along its back, extending from the head to the tail.
A minimum of a 55-gallon tank with ample live rock for grazing and numerous hiding places is recommended to provide a suitable environment. While generally considered more reef-safe than many other angelfish, the Flameback Angelfish may occasionally nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, especially if not well-fed.
This species is hermaphroditic, with no easily distinguishable visual differences between males and females. Breeding in an aquarium is very challenging. The Flameback Angelfish thrives on a varied diet including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, and mysis or frozen shrimp. They typically reach a size of approximately 3 inches in an aquarium.
