Pomacentrus moluccensis
The Lemon Damsel, *Pomacentrus moluccensis*, is a vibrant and cheerful addition to any marine aquarium. Its striking, uniform yellow coloration brings a splash of sunshine to the reef tank. This hardy and active species is a popular choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended for the Lemon Damsel. While generally peaceful, they can become territorial, especially as they mature or if housed with smaller, more timid species. Providing plenty of live rock and hiding places will help mitigate potential aggression. They are well-suited for reef aquariums and typically do not bother corals or invertebrates.
In the aquarium, the Lemon Damsel is an omnivore and will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering a diverse diet will help maintain their vibrant color and overall health. They typically reach a maximum size of around 3 inches in captivity. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, they are a resilient and adaptable species.
