Description

The Longfin Photon Amphiprion percula Clownfish is a captivating and unique variant of the popular Ocellaris Clownfish, distinguished by its dramatically elongated fins. This striking feature gives the fish a graceful, flowing appearance as it navigates the aquarium. The body retains the classic vibrant orange coloration with three distinct white bands outlined in black, but the extended dorsal, anal, and caudal fins add an extra dimension of beauty.

A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Longfin Photon Clownfish, with larger tanks preferred for pairs or groups. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding places and potential host anemones, although they can thrive without one. They are generally peaceful and make excellent additions to a community reef aquarium.

In a home aquarium, the Longfin Photon Clownfish typically reaches a size of 3 to 4 inches. They are omnivores and readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering a mix of foods will ensure optimal health and coloration.

Like other clownfish, the Longfin Photon is a protandrous hermaphrodite, meaning all are born male and the largest fish in a group will transition to female. Breeding in a home aquarium is possible with a compatible pair and proper conditions. There are no readily distinguishable visual differences between males and females other than size once the female has transitioned.
