The Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish, *Amphiprion ocellaris*, is a captivating and popular variant of the classic Ocellaris Clownfish. This unique morph is characterized by its distinctive and often incomplete white bars, which can be broken, irregular, or even absent on one or both sides of the fish. This variation in barring makes each Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish a truly individual specimen.
A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish, with larger tanks preferred for pairs or groups. They are generally peaceful and well-suited for community aquariums. While they can host anemones, they do not require one to thrive in a home aquarium. If an anemone is provided, ensure it is compatible with *Amphiprion ocellaris*.
The Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish is an omnivore and will readily accept a varied diet. Offer a mix of high-quality marine flake food, pellets, frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped seafood, as well as occasional offerings of marine algae or spirulina. Feed small amounts multiple times a day.
In a home aquarium, the Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish typically reaches a size of 3 to 4 inches. Like all clownfish, they are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning they are born male and can change to female later in life. They are relatively easy to breed in captivity, making them a rewarding project for experienced aquarists. There are no readily distinguishable external differences between males and females, though the dominant fish in a pair will become the female and will be larger.
