Description

The Multibar Angelfish, *Paracentropyge multifasciata*, is a striking and relatively uncommon dwarf angelfish species known for its distinctive pattern of vertical black bars against a white to yellowish body. This intricate banding gives it a captivating appearance in the marine aquarium.

A minimum tank size of 75 gallons is recommended for the Multibar Angelfish. They are found throughout the Indo-Pacific region, typically inhabiting deeper reef slopes and drop-offs. While considered an intermediate-level fish for the home aquarium, they require a well-established tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. They can be shy initially and appreciate ample hiding places.

In the aquarium, the Multibar Angelfish will graze on algae and small invertebrates found on live rock. Supplement their diet with a variety of high-quality marine angelfish foods, including spirulina-based flakes and pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering a varied diet is crucial for their long-term health and vibrant coloration. They are generally peaceful towards other fish but may become territorial with other angelfish, especially those of similar size or appearance. Careful consideration should be given when introducing them to a community tank.
