The Orange Storm Clownfish, *Amphiprion percula*, is a captivating and highly sought-after designer clownfish variety. It is characterized by its vibrant orange body overlaid with bold, irregular white bands that often have black outlining, creating a striking “storm” pattern. Each individual possesses a unique pattern, making them truly one-of-a-kind.
A minimum aquarium size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Orange Storm Clownfish, with larger tanks preferred for pairs or groups. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with a variety of other non-aggressive fish. While they can host with anemones, they do not require one to thrive in a home aquarium. If an anemone is provided, ensure it is a species known to host *Amphiprion percula*, such as *Entacmaea quadricolor* (Bubble-Tip Anemone).
In the home aquarium, the Orange Storm Clownfish will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods. Feeding small amounts multiple times a day is beneficial.
Orange Storm Clownfish are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning they are born male and the largest individual in a group will transition to female. They are relatively easy to breed in captivity, and successful breeding programs have led to their availability in the aquarium trade. There are no readily distinguishable external differences between males and females other than size, with the female being larger. They typically reach a size of approximately 3 inches in the home aquarium.
