Description

The Ruby Head Fairy Wrasse is a colorful and energetic addition to reef aquariums, admired for its glowing ruby-red head and vibrant body hues ranging from orange to magenta. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this species is especially eye-catching when males display their full colors during courtship or territorial displays.

Active and peaceful, the Ruby Head Fairy Wrasse thrives in tanks of 70 gallons or larger with plenty of rockwork for hiding and open areas for swimming. A secure lid is highly recommended, as these wrasses are known to jump when startled.

This species is reef-safe and won’t harm corals or most invertebrates, making it a great choice for community reef setups. Males can be territorial with one another, so it’s best to keep just one per tank or house a single male with multiple females to form a harem.

Feed a varied carnivorous diet that includes frozen mysis and brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets to maintain its health and coloration.
