The Snow Storm Ocellaris Clownfish, *Amphiprion ocellaris*, is a captivating and highly sought-after designer clownfish variety. Its body is predominantly white with irregular black markings that create a unique, blizzard-like pattern, hence the name “Snow Storm.” This striking coloration sets it apart from the traditional Ocellaris Clownfish.
A minimum aquarium size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Snow Storm Ocellaris Clownfish, with larger tanks preferred for pairs or groups. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with a variety of other non-aggressive fish. While they can host anemones, they do not require one to thrive in a home aquarium. If an anemone is provided, ensure it is a species known to host *Amphiprion ocellaris*, such as the Bubble Tip Anemone (*Entacmaea quadricolor*).
In the home aquarium, the Snow Storm Ocellaris Clownfish will typically reach a size of 3 to 4 inches. They are omnivores and readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellets, frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Offering a diverse diet will help maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.
Like all clownfish, the Snow Storm Ocellaris is a protandrous hermaphrodite, meaning all individuals are born male and the largest fish in a group will transition into a female. Breeding in captivity is possible and has been achieved by experienced aquarists. There are no readily distinguishable external differences between males and females other than size, with the female being the larger of a pair.
