Chrysiptera springeri
The Springer Damsel, *Chrysiptera springeri*, is a vibrant and active addition to the marine aquarium. Its striking electric blue body is accented by a bright yellow tail, making it a visually appealing choice for hobbyists.
A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Springer Damsel, with larger tanks needed for housing multiple individuals or in a community setting. Provide plenty of live rock and hiding places to mimic their natural reef environment and offer security. While generally peaceful, they can become territorial, especially as they mature or when housed with smaller, less assertive fish. They are considered reef safe and typically do not bother corals or invertebrates.
Distinguishing between male and female Springer Damsels is difficult, and they are not commonly bred in captivity. Their diet should consist of a variety of marine foods, including high-quality flake and pellet foods, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. Offering marine algae or spirulina can also be beneficial.
