Description

The Two Tone Wrasse, Halichoeres prosopeion, is a vibrant and engaging addition to a beginner’s marine aquarium. Reaching a maximum size of 30 cm, this species is native to the Indo-Pacific region. Its striking coloration, often featuring a distinct two-tone pattern, adds a splash of color to any reef or fish-only tank.

A minimum tank size of 75 gallons is recommended to provide ample swimming space for this active species. The Two Tone Wrasse is generally peaceful and can be kept with a variety of other non-aggressive marine fish. They are known for their sand-dwelling behavior, often burying themselves in the substrate at night or when startled. A deep sand bed is essential for their well-being.

In the aquarium, the Two Tone Wrasse will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. They are also known to consume small invertebrates, which can help control unwanted pests in the aquarium. Offering a diverse diet will help maintain their vibrant colors and overall health.
