Description

The Venustus Angelfish, *Centropyge venusta*, is a beautiful and relatively uncommon dwarf angelfish from the Indo-Pacific region. Reaching a maximum size of approximately 3 inches, this species is a vibrant addition to a reef or fish-only aquarium. Its striking coloration features a bright yellow body with a prominent blue stripe running along the dorsal fin and back, creating a captivating contrast.

An aquarium of at least 75 gallons is recommended to provide ample swimming space and stable water parameters for the Venustus Angelfish. While generally considered reef-safe with caution, they may occasionally nip at certain corals, particularly LPS and soft corals. Providing a varied diet and plenty of live rock with hiding places can help minimize this behavior. They are best kept as the only dwarf angelfish in the tank, as they can be territorial towards conspecifics and other angelfish species.

In the home aquarium, the Venustus Angelfish will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and spirulina. Offering a diverse diet will help maintain their vibrant colors and overall health. They are considered to have an intermediate care level, requiring stable water conditions and a well-established aquarium.
