Description

The Yellow Finned Fairy Wrasse, *Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis*, is a vibrant and active addition to the reef aquarium. This species is known for its striking coloration, featuring a body that can range from pink to purple, often with iridescent blue lines, and most notably, bright yellow dorsal and caudal fins. The intensity of their colors can change depending on their mood and environment.

A minimum tank size of 50 gallons is recommended for the Yellow Finned Fairy Wrasse. They are native to the Indo-Pacific region and thrive in established reef aquariums with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging. While generally peaceful, they can be territorial with other wrasses, especially those of similar size or coloration. They are considered an intermediate level fish due to their need for a stable environment and varied diet.

In the aquarium, the Yellow Finned Fairy Wrasse will readily accept a varied diet of high-quality marine flake food, pellet food, frozen mysis shrimp, and enriched brine shrimp. They are active hunters and will also graze on small invertebrates in the live rock. Offering multiple small feedings throughout the day is beneficial. They typically reach a maximum size of around 3-4 inches in captivity. Like other wrasses, they are known for burying themselves in the sand at night or when startled.
